# Wedding games and photo challenges your guests will love

> The best wedding games need almost no explaining: giant Jenga, giant Connect 4 and quoits for the drinks reception, a wedding quiz or bingo during the meal, and the shoe game in the evening. A photo scavenger hunt runs all day and doubles as your album: give each table a list of shots to capture and share.

Games keep a wedding moving: they fill the gap between the ceremony and the meal, give tables something to talk about, and get people who've never met laughing together. The best ones need almost no explaining. Here are the ideas that work, from garden games to table quizzes, plus a ready-made photo scavenger hunt that fills your album at the same time.

## Garden and lawn games

Perfect for a summer drinks reception, especially while the couple are off having portraits taken.

- **Giant Jenga.** Everyone knows the rules and the crash gets a cheer.
- **Giant Connect 4.** Quick rounds, good for all ages.
- **Croquet.** Very British, very slow, very funny after a glass of fizz.
- **Quoits or ring toss.** Easy to set up and easy to play in wedding shoes.
- **Bean bag toss (cornhole).** Great for team rivalries between tables.
- **Kubb.** A Scandinavian throwing game that people get oddly competitive about.
- **Boules.** Works on gravel paths as well as grass.
- **Giant dominoes or noughts and crosses.** For the guests who'd rather stand and chat.

> **Tip:** Hiring a set is usually cheaper than buying for one day, and many venues have their own. Put games on even ground, away from the drinks table.

## Table games for the meal

- **The wedding quiz.** Ten questions about the couple ("Where was their first date?"), one answer sheet per table, results announced before the speeches.
- **Wedding bingo.** Squares like "Someone cries during the vows" and "The best man mentions an ex".
- **Guess the baby photo.** Baby photos of the couple or the wedding party, with names to match.
- **Advice cards.** Fill-in-the-blank cards that double as a guest book: "The secret to a happy marriage is…"
- **Find a guest who…** Icebreaker cards: find someone who's been to Australia, someone who knew the bride at school.
- **Table trivia about the year they met.** Music, films and news from that year.

## Reception and evening games

- **The shoe game.** The couple sit back to back holding one of each other's shoes and raise the right one to questions like "Who's the better cook?". Always a hit.
- **The anniversary dance.** Married couples dance, and the host calls out "married for more than five years… ten… twenty…" until the longest-married couple is left.
- **A dance-off or limbo.** Ask the DJ or band in advance.
- **Musical chairs or musical statues** for the children, early in the evening.

## The wedding photo scavenger hunt

A photo scavenger hunt gives guests a reason to take the photos you'd love to have. Print the list on a card for each table, or share it before the day. With DropSnaps, add each challenge as a moment tag: guests pick the challenge when they upload, and every photo lands in its own album.

> **Prize idea:** a bottle of fizz for the table with the most challenges completed, announced on the screen at the end of the night.

## Games for children

A small activity box goes a long way: colouring sheets of the couple, a "spot the details" picture hunt, bubbles outside, and a disposable or children's camera with their own photo challenge list. Give a responsible adult the job of keeping it stocked.

## Tips that keep games fun

- **Keep everything optional.** Some guests want to play, some want to chat.
- **Time it right.** The drinks reception and the gap before the evening do are perfect; the speeches and the first dance aren't.
- **Name a host.** One confident friend who explains the rules and rounds people up.
- **Show the results.** A slideshow of the scavenger hunt photos on a screen gets everyone talking. See our guide to [live photo walls and slideshows](https://dropsnaps.com/guides/wedding-live-photo-wall).
